Falkenberg (Tullbron) – Varberg (Societetssparken) Route length: approx. 40 km
The cycle route continues through the town of Falkenberg, one of the oldest medieval towns in Halland. It then continues along the sea through the open landscape. It is said that it was somewhere around here that Ulf Lundell was inspired to write the song lyrics “Jag trivs bäst i öppna landskap, nära havet vill jag bo…” (“I feel most at home in open landscapes, close to the sea is where I want to live…”)
Along the way to Varberg you will find a bird-rich nature reserve, several picturesque fishing villages such as Glommen and Träslövsläge, charming little farm shops and craft artisans and much more.
As you approach Varberg, the final destination of this stage, you pass Apelviken, the beach that attracts windsurfers from all over Europe. Soon you will be cycling along the Strandpromenaden and Varberg’s fortress rises up before you. Stop for a moment and think! How would you take the fortress? The German Markus Meyer did it through the latrine in the 16th century. Turn into Societetsparken and take a well-deserved break in the shade of the leafy trees.
