Kattegattleden – Helsingborg – Höganäs

This section of the Kattegattleden offers a beautiful ride along the coast all the way between Helsingborg and Höganäs with a stunning view over the Öresund and across to the Danish island of Zealand.

The start (or finish) takes place in Helsingborg, which offers an urban environment with, among other things, historical sites such as Kärnan and Sofiero Castle and castle garden, which is known for its more than 10,000 rhododendron bushes that bloom throughout the park during the months of May–June. In contrast to this, you will also encounter a modern and continental environment such as Norra Hamnen and Gröningen, with room for both relaxation, swimming and outdoor dining.

Along the trail you will find picturesque small fishing villages and marinas such as Domsten and Viken. Just outside Viken you can make a detour to the Civil Defence Museum, which is the only one of its kind in Sweden.

The trail continues up towards Höganäs and takes you out into the beautiful rocky landscape of the Kullahalvön peninsula. The unique location has throughout the centuries attracted many artists as well as holidaymakers.

At the far end of the Kullahalvön peninsula lies the Kullaberg nature reserve, and if you have time for a detour from the trail it is well worth a visit – or why not stay overnight in Mölle. The area offers a variety of activities, such as hiking and climbing on the cliffs which reach 187 metres above sea level at their highest point.

Farm shops and good food are distinctive features around Höganäs, as cultivation and agriculture are an important part of this region. Here you will also find some of Skåne’s finest vineyards. In Höganäs a visit to the market hall is recommended, where they sell locally grown produce and products, and where you can also have fresh seasonal vegetables served directly on a plate.
